SET AIR DATE: SUNDAY OCTOBER 16th, 8 PM on ABC

Thursday August 18: ABC's Extreme Makeover bus invaded the quiet town of Bloomingburg and surprised the Korpai family to announce that they were the latest winners of the show.

The Korpai family was selected from many entries. The shows goal is to create a home where the Korpai's daughter Hailey could grow up in and overcome all the challenges a AH designed house can present.

The builders demolished the Korpai's 2 existing 2 story home, and replacing it with a LP friendly 1 story house.

The Korpai family enjoyed a 7 day Disney Cruise to Disney's private island in the Bahamas while hundreds of volunteers, along with Hearthstone contractors built a magnificant new residence designed around Hailey's needs.

The Korpai's returned home on the 25th, to a huge homecoming party. Their limo pulled up to their new home, which was blocked by the famous, bright orange Extreme Makeover bus.

They were met by members of their family, all the volunteers, the EM crew, as well as many members from our district.

After we all welcomed them home, the crowd all started chanting that well known line: "Move that bus!"

For the first time, the Korpai's got to see their brand new home! Needless to say, they were shocked to see how beautiful it was. Emotions overflowed, and we all were so happy for them.

The house was designed with Hailey's needs in mind, as well as the local LPA chapter.

For Hailey, the house was designed with light switches she could reach, floor to ceiling windows which she could see out of, a new bedroom with a specially designed bathroom and closet that has a moving rack, a kitchen with a raised center island that allows her to easily reach all the appliances, but retained standard counter height outer ring which allows the other family members access as well

For the chapter, the EM crew built a LPA meeting center. The center, consists of 2 floors. On the first floor, a full featured room, with a low height kitchen/craft area, specially designed bathroom and other neat features.

The second floor is a dedicated media room, which contains a full theatre system, stage / game room. The second floor is accessible by a scooter friendly ramp from the outside, and a gorgeous glass, yes, glass elevator on the inside.

Our district members had a special surprise on Thursday evening when the producers invited us back to the home for a taping session in the LPA meeting center. We got to welcome the Korpai's back home and see the center along with them for the first time.

Dr. Jen Arnold and her husband Bill Klein also were present and were the special guests of the night. Both welcomed the Korpai's to their new home and said a few words.

So the big question now is: When will the show air? October 16th, ABC at 8 PM EST.

Many of us are planning viewing parties. Contact your local chapter president to see if there will be one in your area. And if miss the show, attend our fall regional where we will be having a showing on Saturday evening!

Congratulations Jimmy, Darlene, Hailey and Hudson!

All the officers and families of District 2 are so happy for you!
